Who is Battle Buddy Response Team®?
“A battle buddy is expected to assist his or her partner both in and out of combat.”
Battle Buddy Response Team® was founded in 2019 by combat Veteran, Samuel Rock, driven by a profound sense of duty and camaraderie. After reaching out to a fellow combat Veteran in distress and inadvertently saving his life, Samuel was struck by a gut-wrenching realization: what if he hadn’t intervened? This pivotal moment revealed a glaring gap in support services for Veterans in crisis. Unwilling to stand by while others suffered in silence, Samuel utilized his innovative spirit to establish Battle Buddy Response Team® – the first organization dedicated to deploying Veterans to support fellow Veterans. By meeting Veterans and their families where they are – be it at home, in jail, in medical facilities, or on the streets – Battle Buddy Response Team® mounts a frontline defense against the tragedy of suicide. Since its inception, the organization has grown to over 165 volunteers nationwide, providing crucial care and services to more than 468 Veterans across the United States. Battle Buddy Response Team® firmly believes that no one who has fought for this great country should ever feel alone or suffer in silence. Your support, whether through volunteering or donations, is vital to continuing this life-saving mission.
How does Battle Buddy Response Team® make a difference?
Battle Buddy Response Team® is committed to preventing suicide by serving Veterans and their families. Our vision is ambitious yet unwavering: to “Stop and Prevent All Veteran Suicide.” This monumental goal drives every action we take, underpinned by our passion and dedication to our mission. We recognize that many Veterans who have taken their own lives often felt unsupported and misunderstood, grappling with untreated PTSD, injuries from service, or a lack of a robust support system. Battle Buddy Response Team® bridges this gap with empathy and experience – we understand because we’ve been there ourselves. Across the United States, our military Veterans work tirelessly to assist disabled Veterans with everyday tasks, help homeless Veterans find shelter and employment, and address any need that a Veteran might have without the means to meet it. Additionally, we offer Peer Support and Peer Mentoring for those struggling with PTSD and other mental health issues, alongside robust Veteran Advocacy programs. The more we grow, the more lives we can touch and save. Join us in this critical mission today.
